The Berlin based singer was born into an artist family and began performing successfully in concerts, musicals and shows when he was only eighteen years old. He learned his craft at the Berlin University of Arts where he completed a degree in Musical/Show with double honors.
Samuel is a National Singing Competition in Berlin laureate and constantly inspires audiences in Germany and Austria with numerous leading roles in musicals as well as with his hit solo performances. His one-man plays and concert programs were premiered in Berlin. A few of his greatest roles are the Conférencier in "Cabaret", Mike Connor in Cole Porter’s "High Society", Woof in the musical "Hair", Action in "West Side Story", King Herod in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Jesus Christ Superstar", Harry Driscoll in the German premiere of the musical "Heimatlos" as well as the title-role in the world premiere of the musical "The Elephant Man".
In 2007 he released his first solo album "Sunday – Samuel Schürmann singt Sondheim" - a great, musical stroll through the fascinating world of the American composer and Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Sondheim. Praised by critics, voted as solo CD of the month and shooting to number two in the musical charts, his CD was a great success and sold worldwide to Sondheim- and Musical-enthusiasts. The most rewarding feedback Samuel Schürmann received was in the form of a letter by Stephen Sondheim himself, who praised and congratulated the album and the artist as a singer and interpreter.
With "Wish Upon A Star" Samuel Schürmann produced his first big concert at the "Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt" in Berlin benefiting the children's hospice "Sternenbrücke" in Hamburg and the children's cancer fund "Kinderleben" in Berlin. It was Samuels special concern to connect art and social commitment in one event: Bringing together more than 40 musicians, dancers and artistic co-workers he presented a show with hits from Swing, Jazz, Pop and Musical.
